DESCRIPTION
This course concerns the identification, assessment and control of conditions in the work environment that are harmful to the health and safety of people in all occupations. It covers the prevention of accidents, injuries, ill health and the rehabilitation of injured workers. You will study the functions of policy development, compensation, rehabilitation, the OH&S Act and its regulations.
This course provides you with sound theory, knowledge and practice of OHS principles to enable you to build upon existing OHS experience, to progress your career path to an OHS Management role.
You may enrol in the course at any stage during the year. You have the chance to select from a range of dates for elective units to determine the duration of your course ( 6 months to 1 year).
The Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety can be completed as part of a Dual Qualification with the Diploma of Quality Auditing. By enrolling in both courses you will complete complementary studies in Lead Auditing, Risk Management, Incident Investigation and OHS Performance, gaining skills across multiple disciplines and broadening your employment opportunities.
PRE-REQUISITES
There are no prerequisite requirements for individual units of competency.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
To apply for the Diploma of OHS, it is recommended that you have:
- Certificate IV in OHS; or
- current OHS industry experience (at a supervisor level/manager/consultant level)
It is required that you have access to a workplace for completion of assessment activities, an appropriate level of literacy, some basic understanding of maths, science and basic computer skills. On application to the course, you will be asked to provide a copy of your current profile/CV or letter stating your experience and the reasons you want to do the course.
