Description

If your organisation is large enough, with enough diversity in its activities, you may wish to establish an internal compliance program to assist in the managing of quality requirements and risk. A key element of such a program is the planning and implementation of an ongoing schedule of audits across a range of programs and activities.

Participants wishing to manage broad compliance requirements across numerous programs, are encouraged to undertake the Diploma of Quality Auditing. In addition, people wishing to become peer auditors or to participate in external independent quality auditing, should consider the full Diploma.

To gain a Diploma of Quality Auditing BSB51607 qualification, participants will need to successfully complete 8 units listed below. Participants will also have to undertake an assessment for each of the units, during or after the course.

Pre-requisites

Preferred pathways for candidates considering this qualification include:

  • after achieving BSB40207 Certificate IV in Business or other relevant qualification/s OR;
  • providing evidence of competency in the majority of units required for the BSB40207 Certificate IV in Business or other relevant qualification/s OR;
  • extensive vocational experience in auditing and without formal auditing qualifications

BSBOHS508B - Participate in the investigation of incidents

Incident Investigation Training will allow operating personnel, middle management and senior management to have an appreciation of and to develop relevant skills in the use of appropriate Systematic Incident Investigation (SII) techniques. Participants will be equipped with the necessary tools to conduct "in-house", or "on-the-spot" incident investigations when required.

Fundamental Facets of the SII Process
The following facets are central to the SII methodology outlined and contained within the training program proposed to implement the SII procedure.

  1. Losses are treated mainly as results of deficiencies in the Management System
  2. A "no-fault" and "no-blame" approach id taken to ensure the maximum advantage is derived from incident investigation
  3. The team/investigator does not produce recommendation, but rather "Judgements of Need", which are considered outside the investigation process
BSBAUD402B - Participate in Quality Audit

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to prepare for and participate in a quality audit as a member of a quality audit team. The process includes reviewing designated documentation; identifying and developing checklists and audit related documentation; preparing audit schedules; gathering, analysing and evaluating information; and reporting findings to the lead auditor.

BSBAUD501B - Initiate a Quality Audit

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to initiate and organise a quality audit with an auditee. It covers assessing the scope and objectives of a quality audit; communicating with the auditee regarding the proposed quality audit; identifying resources required to conduct the audit; and developing and submitting a quality audit plan. The types of audit may include an external or internal systems audit or process or product/service audit.

BSBAUD503B - Lead a Quality Audit

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to lead an audit team as they undertake a quality audit. It covers conducting entry and exit meetings; identifying and gathering relevant information; managing audit team resources; and providing feedback to audit team members on their performance. The types of quality audit that may be covered by this unit include an external or internal systems audit or process or product/service audit.

BSBAUD504B - Report on a Quality Audit

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to report on the outcomes of a quality audit and to take appropriate follow up action. It covers compiling audit results; preparing a report for the auditee/client; negotiating follow up action with the auditee/client; and monitoring and reviewing auditing system and activities. The types of quality audit that may be covered by this unit include an external or internal systems audit or process or product/service audit.

BSBRSK501A - Manage Risk

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage risks in a range of contexts across the organisation or for a specific business unit or area. This unit addresses the management of the risk across the organisation or within a business unit or area. It does not assume any given industry setting.

BSBOHS505B - Manage Hazards in the Work Environment

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to identify hazards, and to assess and control risks in the work environment. It focuses on the knowledge, processes and techniques necessary to control specific hazards in the work environment.

BSBOHS504B - Apply principles of OHS risk management

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to use a generic approach to identify hazards, and to assess and control occupational health and safety (OHS) risks. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of endorsement.
